Flower Knows recently released their new 2023 Moonlight Mermaid collection, Flower Knows is a Chinese cosmetic company that was founded in 2016 by Boazi and Hana, who are two well-known Cosplayers and social media Influencers. So far, Flower Knows has expanded its business to Southeast Asia, Japan, Europe, and the United States, accelerating its expansion into the global market. As of March 2021, Flower Knows has entered more than 1,000 Japanese stores and won the 2021 Shopee Seller Awards.

In this Moonlight Mermaid Series, Flower Knows released x5 5pan Eyeshadow Palettes, x5 Embossed Blush, x9 Lip Gloss, Pressed Setting with x2 shades, x3 Liquid Liners in various shades, x1 Hand Mirror of various colours & x1 Stippling Brush of various colours. Concept & Packaging :
Flower Knows is really well known in China for their stunning packaging & the Moonlight Mermaid Series is no exception to that. Flower Knows packaging has so many elements, are really intricate in design & well crafted. The quality of the packaging reminds me of my Sailor Moon Replica Compacts by Bandai, really high-quality plastic molding.
The Moonlight Mermaid Series is inspired by all things Mermaid Kingdom, Gemstones, & of course the Starry Night. All these elements including a Grand Castle can all be seen within the stunning packaging. Like all Flower Knows series, the packaging has many different colours ways all depending on the shade of product you purchase. The collection's main design focus is the silhouette of a Mermaid along with Gemstone Cutting Style can be seen prominently on many products. Majority of the packaging is heavy embellished by gold accents along with the gemstone marble textures that really brings this elegant collection together as a whole. Overall, I'm very impressed with the level of detail the packaging has & the intricacy of every product I purchased. This is the fourth collection I have purchased from Flower Knows & I must say this is by far the best collection they have come out with! My absolute favourite collection thus far!

Moonlight Mermaid Five-Color Eyeshadow Palette (04 Mermaid's Dream & 05 Moonlight Land). Flower Knows released a x3 8pan Eyeshadow Palettes for this series. I purchased x2 palettes, 04 Mermaid's Dream which has a Purple Pink colour story and 05 Moonlight Land which has a neutral blue colour story. All x5 5pan Eyeshadow Palettes have x3 Mattes & x2 Glitter formulas. The Moonlight Mermaid eyeshadow palettes have the same base formula as previous Flower Knows palettes.
The formula of the Mattes are super soft and silky but is also very powdery/chalky at the same time. They have decent pigmentation and the shades do need to be built-up to reach full opacity. The matte formula layer & blend well but has abit of kickback and even though this palette has some light pastel cool tone shades, I did not have any issues with a shades changing in colour slightly and looking ashy or muddy. Overall all the matte shades preformed better than expected, it maintained its colour and was very smooth to work with.
The Glitter shades is soft but has a stiff texture. The formula has tiny micro-glitters compressed together that give the shades a nice sheen. The shimmer formula gives more of a wash of colour to the lids instead of high-shine reflectiveness. The pigment is sheer but the glitter shade can be layered & built-up for a nice shine. The glitter shades in my opinion are applied best with finger tips. (RM107/USD35)
Moonlight Mermaid Jewelry Lip Gloss (GE01 Nude Stellar & GE05 Mermaid's Tears).. From this series Flower Knows released x9 shades of their Jewelry Lip Gloss. I purchased x2 shades out of the range, the x2 shades are Nude Stellar which is described as apricot nude shade while Mermaid's Tears is described as a tulip pink shade. Mermaid's Teras (GE05) has tiny silver micro glitters inside the formula.
The formula is sheer in pigmentation, with a high shine finish and has an oil gel like texture that is lightweight feeling on the lips. Very comfortable and has a non-sticky / greasy feeling, the formula can easily build-up without any stringy-ness. With several layers, my dark spots on my lips are well covered but are still slightly visible underneath. The gloss also fills in fines lines giving the lips a very plump & juicy look. The formula also has a slight tinting effect, not as vibrant or long lasting but to me feels very similar to water tints.
Overall, it's a very interesting formula to me. A combination of a water & oil consistency that feels comfortable & moisturising while also delivering a high shine effect. I've really been enjoying this formula very much & have been wearing the lighter shade (GE01) it as a lip topper, it makes everything underneath look so good! Definitely recommend (RM77/USD20).
Moonlight Mermaid Embossed Blush (02 Moonlight Dawn). For this collection Flower Knows released x5 Ombre powder blushes that have x3 gradient of colours, a top highlighting colour, a middle main colour & a bottom deeper colour.
I purchased x2 shades of the Ombre blush, one of the shades I purchased is Moonlight Dawn (02) which is described as Break of Dawn comprising of a Milk blue, Cherry blossom Pink & a Milk Tea Apricot shade. The formulation is soft and smooth but firmer to the touch, which I can appreciate since it does help maintain the stunning embossed design even after several uses. The blush feels abit chalky and there is abit of kickback but not as much as to for me to concern. The pigmentation is sheer in nature, but the colour can be layered and built up without looking cakey. As for the top blue colour, it can appear white & abit ashy on darker skintones. For the overall shade in general, I think it will suit fair to light skintones better. (RM83/USD26).
Moonlight Mermaid Embossed Blush (05 Siren Melody). For this collection Flower Knows released x5 Ombre powder blushes that have x3 gradient of colours, a top highlighting colour, a middle main colour & a bottom deeper colour.
I purchased x2 shades of the Ombre blush, one of the shades I purchased is Siren Melody (02) which is described as Dragon Fruit Sunset comprising of a Violet, Pinkish Orange Coral & a Strawberry Red shade. The formulation is soft and smooth but firmer to the touch, which I can appreciate since it does help maintain the stunning embossed design even after several uses. The blush feels abit chalky and there is abit of kickback but not as much as to for me to concern. The pigmentation is sheer in nature, but the colour can be layered and built up without looking cakey. As for the overall shade in general, it will suit majority of skintones.
Overall, a good blush with absolutely stunning packaging. It has the same standard Flower Know blush formula that is natural & gives the cheeks a nice soft flushed look. (RM83/USD26).
Another stunning & magical collection from Flower Knows! I enjoyed majority of everything I purchased & will definitely continue to use them even though it means loosing the stunning embossing. Flower Knows always creates & curates beautiful collections & the Moonlight Mermaid Series really doesn't disappoint. Their overall product formulas to me are solid, not the highest quality but the trade off for packaging & dreamy concept experience is really worth it! Flower Knows is slowly becoming one of my top C-Beauty makeup brands to look out for!
The Moonlight Mermaid series is to me by far the best & my favourite collections in terms of concept, packaging & colour themes / colour ways Flower Knows has released. For the formulations, the eyeshadow & blush still have Flower Knows base standard formula that is the same as previous / other collections. For me, C-Beauty blushes in terms of shades have always been a "choose wisely" thing when it comes to a fair-medium-tan skintone person like myself & unfortunately Flower Knows follows suit. The Ombre blush with the milky blue shades (02 Moonlight Dawn) didn't work for my skintone & overall looked ashy on my skin but the other blush (05 Siren Melody) worked well for my complexion. As for my favourite product, it would have to be the lip gloss, even though it has sheer pigmentation the shine it gives the lips is stunning! The gloss formula has an interesting oil+water consistency on the lips that is light weight & non-greasy feeling. Also has to me similar to a water tinting effect that is subtle & very natural looking. Love both shades I purchased & have been reaching for them when I want juicy looking lips! Other than that, I'm a huge fan & looking forward to seeing more for Flower Knows!
