One Brand Wonder : GloWish By Huda Beauty

Updated: Apr 26, 2023

GloWish is a makeup range/line from the already well known brand Huda Beauty. Huda Beauty was founded in 2013 by Huda Kattan who is an Iraqi-American MUA, beauty blogger & entrepreneur. Huda Beauty also launched a fragrance line called Kayali along with a skincare line called Wishful. After launching Wishful, Huda mentions she found a new appreciation towards her skin and would like to accentuate it more. From this, GloWish was born. It is the fusion of high-performing makeup & skincare together.

GloWish centers around the idea of clean makeup combined with skin-healthy ingredients that enhancing ones own beauty/skin instead of covering it up. Majority of GloWish product formulas are naturally derived and some key ingredients are Damascus Rose Oil, sustainably sourced Red Bell Pepper Extract, Squalene, Vitamin E, and even Shea Butter. Not only that but majority of GloWish products are also vegan, cruelty-free, fragrance-free, non-comedogenic & comes in FSC-certified & recyclable packaging.

Concept & Packaging :

The entire concept or branding of GloWish is the idea of enhancing ones own beauty without covering it up. Packaging wise, it to me still has the same geometrical shapes as some of her original Huda Bueaty products but feels alot more minimal and has a very sleek contemporary feel overall. The packaging has a very clean aesthetic, using frosted or translucent packaging really highlights the concept of "not covering it up" elegantly. Another main highlight of the packaging is the push towards sustainability by Huda Beauty though out the GloWish product line. All their uni-Carton/boxes comes in 100% certified recyclable packaging and all the compacts are also made from 30% post-consumer recycled (PCR) material. Overall I love the simplistic but sleek feel of all the products & just adore and appreciate that there is a deeper thought towards a cleaner sustainable future amongst the brand.

Products :

Below are some of the products I purchased from the Collection/Brand.

GloWish Multidew Skin Tint (04 Medium Light) is Huda Beauty's first skin tint that comes in x13 stretchable shades & has some Damascus Rose Oil along with sustainably sourced Red Bell Pepper Extract as their key ingredients. I purchased shade 04 Medium Light, which tbh was abit dark for me. From the swatch images the shade looked much lighter compared to what came out of the pump. I normally like to go for a lighter base & go heavier with bronzer/contour, but with this shade I can still make it work by going abit more heavy with concealer to brighten the complexion. The formula has thick almost mousse like consistency but is lightweight on the skin. The coverage is sheer at first but can be built-up to a medium coverage. It evens out the skin nicely & covers redness well but dark spots are still visible after several layers. The formula has a VERY dewy finish that not everyone might be comfortable with, I myself honestly don't like the finish without setting or applying powder on top. But after setting the face with some powder, I really liked the outcome. It gave my skin a nice natural fresh look with some dewyness/shine peeking through. After about 6-8hours of weartime, I did notice my T-Zone looking greasy/oily but it wasn't too bad, the formula didn't break down or started separating. Overall, I actually really like it, and feels good on the skin and holds up better than what I expected. I kinda wished I gotten a lighter shade. If you have oily AF skin like me, you would definitely have to powder it to make it work. (RM155/USD37)

GloWish Luminous Pressed Powder (02 Fair Light) Huda Beauty GloWish released x13 stretchable shades of their Luminous Pressed Powder. Similar to their skin tint the pressed powder has some Damascus Rose Oil along with sustainably sourced Red Bell Pepper Extract as their key ingredients. I purchased shade 02 Fair Light, which is described as having golden undertones. The formula is super soft & silky to the touch, but has some kickback/fallout if applied using a brush. The formula also has tiny micro-glitters disperse throughout powder, that gives the skin a VERY intense shine that again not everyone might be comfortable with. For me, I don't think I can/will be using it as what it was intended to be (face powder), as someone who has large pores & uneven texture this powder accentuated it more. The formula has decent coverage that is buildable but also feels super lightweight. Honestly overall, I really like the formula but just don't enjoy the finish. I instead prefer using it as more of a finishing powder similar to Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders. I would prefer to apply a light dusting of this powder over matte foundations or hit the high points of my face to bring back a bit of glow/radiance to the skin. (RM145/USD33)

GloWish Soft Radiance Bronzing Powder (01 Light) Huda Beauty GloWish released x5 shades of their Soft Radiance Bronzing Powder, it has Damascus Rose Oil, sustainably sourced Red Bell Pepper Extract, Squalene, Vitamin E, and even Shea Butter as their key ingredients. Out of the x5shades, I purchased the 01 Light which definitely was too light to match with the skin tint shade. The formula is soft but also feels abit dry to the touch compared to the luminous pressed powder. It picks up / and dispenses product very nicely with little to no kickback and the swirl design is still visible even after many swipes of the brush. The bronzing powder formula has some micro-glitters in it, giving a nice radiance/glow to the skin. The pigmentation of the lightest shade is nice & gives my skin a subtle kiss of warmth without being ashy. The formula blends very nicely and layers well on top of other products. Overall it's a good bronzing powder that gives a healthy glow to the skin with great ingredients. (RM130/USD31)

GloWish Cheeky Vegan Blush Powder (01 Healthy Peach) Huda Beauty GloWish released x4 shades of their Cheeky Vegan Blush, similar to their bronzing powder it has Damascus Rose Oil, sustainably sourced Red Bell Pepper Extract, Squalene, Vitamin E, and even Shea Butter as their key ingredients. I purchased shade Healthy Peach which is described as a warm soft peach. The formula is similar to the bronzing powder, it is soft but also feels abit dry to the touch compared to the luminous pressed powder. It picks up / and dispenses product very nicely with little to no kickback. Similar to the bronzing powder these blushes have some micro-glitters in the formulation giving a nice radiance/glow to the skin. The pigmentation of the shade Healthy Peach is decent but needs to be built up to get the maximum colour payout, this shade will definitely suit lighter skintones. The formula blends very nicely and layers well on top of other products. Overall it's a good blush that gives a healthy glow to the skin with great ingredients, and would recommend getting the middle/darker shades for better colour payoff if you have light-medium to darker skin tone. (RM95/USD21)

Overall I'm happy & satisfied with all the products I purchased from Huda Beauty GloWish line. I love that GloWish is a very conscientious brand/line that focuses more on ingredients & sustainability. My favourite products from the line would definitely be their blush & bronzing powders. I will definitely be using all the products again but also looking forward to seeing more from Huda Beauty GloWish line!
