One Brand Wonder : Sunnies Face (Sunnies Studio)

Updated: Apr 27, 2023

Sunnies Studios is a Philippine-based lifestyle brand that began as a product line of sunglasses. Founded in 2013, Sunnies Studios has since expanded to offering prescription eyeglasses, and has ventured into the makeup industry, with Sunnies Face, and the food industry, with Sunnies Café. Sunnies Face was launched in August 2018 with just one product, the Fluffmatte and with that alone set their name as a Cult Beauty Brand.

If you want to know more on this Asian Affordable Cosmetic brand and some of their products keep reading!

Concept & Packaging :

Sunnies Face was born from the natural obsession that the founders and the staffs (Sunnies Studios) had with colour & makeup. They stated that " We always had a dilemma when buying beauty products. Luxury brands were too expensive while more affordable brands didn’t have the formula and packaging we’re looking for. So after years of not finding the perfect in-between, we decided to create Sunnies Face."

To me Sunnies Face packaging is very simple and has the look and feel of some typical Korean style makeup brands such as 3CE or Kaja Beauty but what sets Sunnies Face apart is really their colour selection and tones of their products. Majority of the shades are universally flattering very reminiscent of high end brands. Sunnies Face started relatively small with only a handful of products, so quality and formulas had to be to the highest standard as well. When Sunnies Face first launch with only the Fluffmatte Lipstick their original packaging was in a frosted plastic packaging that was stunning and unique at the time but has now since changed to and off-white packaging. I honestly still prefer the old packaging but as long as the quality doesn't change that's what really matters. Overall, I do think Sunnies Face is really inline with their vision of being an affordable, high quality concept makeup brand.

Products :

The images in this post are some of the products I purchased from the range of Products.

Fluffmatte Lipstick (Nudist, Vacay & Baked) is Sunnies Face most well known product that set them into the cult beauty stage. When it first launched these lipsticks sold-out in under 10minutes. Having only x9 shades in the beginning, Sunnies face has now launched x6 new nude shades in their Nude-is range. At first glance of the bullet, it looks so similar to the Pat McGrath Labs iconic MatteTrance lipstick where it has an almost velvet like texture. The formula on the other hand is closer to MAC's Powder Kiss lipsticks where it has some slick to it but is abit more creamier. Pigmentation is amazing, and because it's creamy I feel the colour coats the lips so evenly. It feels light-weight on the lips but you definitely know it's there and dries down to a very comfortable silky matte finish. Overall such an amazing affordable matte lipstick, and I know why it is a cult favourite. (RM43)

Airblush (Doll, Peached, Biscuit & Moon) is Sunnies Face cream blush product that comes in a variety of x6 stunning shades. I purchased x4 out of the range because I rarely use and have much cream blushes. I've always been more of a powder formula girl when it comes to blushes but Sunnies Face colours are just too gorgeous not too pick up. The formula is hard as first to the touch but instantly melts once rubbed which is very typical of cream blushes. It is very light-weight and has decent pigment that layers wells for better colour payoff. The cream formula blends wells on the skin as well as other products and I didn't have an issue with it layer ontop of my already powdered skin. Once the product sets it has a velvet matte finish leaving the skin with a nice flushed look. All in all a very good cream blush that I just been really enjoying and definitely would recommend! (RM54)

Lip Dip (Terracotta) is Sunnies Face version of a whipped Matte Lip Cream that comes in x10 beautiful shades that ranges from your warm peach to cool tone mauve all very flattering on the skin. I purchased only x1 shade because terracotta looked like such a unique shade that I don't have in my collection. The formula of Sunnies Face Lip Dip reminds me of 3CE Velvet lip tint. The formula and the texture is very lightweight comfortable, leaning to the velvet matte finish once it dries. The consistency is like a thick whipped formula, but once I place it on the lips, I can't feel it on. Has decent pigmentation and colour payoff. Even with just using a the wand I was able to get a nice precise line and my lips had a very blurred / blotted look. Overall a great liquid lip formula, my favourite kind of lip products and will definitely try more shades from this range! (RM43)

Overall I love all the products I purchased and I would like to really try out more from Sunnies Face. Everything just worked so well and effortlessly that it really does feel like high-end makeup quality with affordable prices for the masses and really have no complaints, I love for them to expand more of their range to maybe eyeshadow because they do colour so well. Really excited to see more from them and to try more from them!
